In 1992, Susanne Kölbli joined cutting edge jewellery brand, THOMAS SABO, as creative director. Together with Sabo the man himself, the duo has developed and launched collections for different target groups, but with a similar goal in mind — an iconic design language that aligns every collection into one distinct brand name: THOMAS SABO. For the brand’s latest Sterling Silver Autumn/Winter Collection, the universal “Together” message — “a symbol for affection, kindness and fondness” — is used as its inspiration.
Here’s what you can expect from the new collection: for the first time, popular items such as the eternity rings, together-forever rings and solitaires will be embellished with diamond upgrades under the Glam & Soul Diamonds range name. A new Triangle Diamonds range will be introduced to reflect urban cool femininity, while the customisable Love Bridge line will include personalisation for the Love Bands and Love Coins lines. The Nile Treasures range will also feature new Karma Beads, stretch bracelets, hoop earrings and more.
Ahead, we speak to Kölbli about the new collection, the rules when it comes to styling jewellery (“don’t follow the rules”), and the top jewellery trends of the moment.
Are there any rules when it comes to styling jewellery?
It depends on your outfit, the occasion, and it has to look authentic. For example, for purist outfits, you need just a few pieces like the filigree designs of our Glam & Soul Diamonds series. For a glam rock outfit: raw denim, a black tank top with a Chanel jacket, together with high heel ankle boots and layers of necklaces like our urban Triangle series.
Most importantly, it’s the courage to mix. Don’t follow the rules and play with your accessories. One outfit can be styled in many different ways. Finally, it is all about the details – and the last fine detail is what makes it complete. Accessories are the dot on the “I”.
