Chanel releases first ever Haute Horlogerie watch designed for men: the ‘Monsieur de Chanel’.
Finally, a Chanel gift that will make the special man in your life happy. A dream translated into reality, the ‘Monsieur de Chanel’ is the result of Chanel’s painstaking craftsmanship of five years. For its first ever release, this beautifully masculine timepiece will include a numbered edition of only 300 watches. It is set to release in June 2016.
At the front, its lean and simple opaline dial is protected in a domed sapphire glass that features two refined functions. The first is the digital hour display of the ‘Instant Jumping Hour’ located at the bottom of the watch. The second is the 240° ‘Retrograde Minute Counter’ powered by the powerful ‘Calibre 1’ mechanism. Its case and crown is housed in 18K Gold that comes in two colours: white gold and beige gold. Slightly more subtle than rose and yellow gold, the beige gold is made of a unique alloy that produces a distinct gold shade that is exclusive to Chanel.
At the back is a see-through glass that showcases the intricate architectural design of the watch’s mechanisms. Its manual-winding Calibre 1 is the first high-watchmaking movement fully designed and assembled at the House of Chanel’s Manufacture, G&F Chatelain in La Chaux de Fonds. It also has two barrels mounted in series to make the power reserve last for three days.
“It is a great honour for CHANEL to launch this first Haute Horlogerie movement designed, developed, reliability checked and assembled in our La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture in Châtelain. It represents the final step in the integration of watchmaking expertise, and adds a new chapter in the history of CHANEL Haute Horlogerie,“ says Philippe Mougenot, President of CHANEL Watch and Fine Jewellery.
The Monsieur de Chanel will be available by June 2016 at Chanel Fine Jewellery Boutiue at Takashimaya Shopping Centre in Singapore.
