Van Cleef & Arpels and the French National Museum of National History Collection showcase their legacy of jewellery and precious gems at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum.
Want to know more about a woman’s best friend? Head down to the Singapore ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands and feast your eyes upon a parallel showcase of over 450 Jewellery Collections and 250 precious gems and minerals from Van Cleef & Arpels and the French National Museum of National History Collection respectively. Titled Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems, this exquisitely curated exhibition will run from 23 April 2016 to 14 August 2016.
Helmed by Van Cleef & Arpels for the first time, the exhibition allows visitors to take a deeper look at jewelleries and minerals, specifically the art of jewellery making and the science of mineralogy, highlighting the intimate bond between these two fields. What makes this exhibition even more exclusive is the showcase of pieces from the 100-year heritage of Paris’ High Jewellery Maison, including pieces lent by private collectors from around the world.
These delicate creations will be featured in seven historical themes: Couture, Abstractions, Influences, Precious Objects, Nature, Ballerinas and Fairies, and Icons. Alongside the display are the natural treasures and artefacts from the Minerals and Gems Collection of the French National Museum of Natural History, which focuses on seven major principles — Pressure, Temperature, Transport, Water, Oxygen, Life and Metamorphism — that are essential to precious stones’ formations.
