Raf Simons leaves Christian Dior after three and a half years as Creative Director of Women collections for personal reasons.
After three and a half years as Creative Director of Women collections, Raf Simons is ready to pack up his designer bags and make his exit at Christian Dior. The brand’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection presented in Paris on 2 October 2015 was Simons’ last collection.
The news come unexpected, seeing that it has been a series of successful years for the brand and Simons himself — his short stint with the fashion house fetched over 60% rise in sales and put Simons at the height of his career.
“It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as Creative Director of Christian Dior Couture Women’s collection,” said Raf Simons. “It is a decision, based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside of my work. Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to be allowed to write a few pages of this magnificent book.”
One thing’s for sure, that’s not the last of Raf Simons we’ll see. Now, the question is: who will be his successor? We’re staying tuned.
