We reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC KW11 and here’s what we found

When Sony launched its Cyber-shot™ DSC KW11 digital camera with its 19.2 megapixel Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor, a 180-degree swivel camera, multiple editing options, Wi-Fi capabilities all packed into a sleek stylish body, and claiming to be the selfie camera, it seemed too good to be true. And there was only one way to find out if it lived up to its claims. We put it to the ultimate selfie test and here’s what we found.

Selfie Sony Cybershot

The Sony Cyber-shot™ DSC KW11 scores major points in the looks department. Available in four colours, it’s not designed to look like your usual camera. With its pearlescent finish that sparkled with Swarovski elements, you wouldn’t be the only one to mistake it for a perfume bottle. Even its swivel lens is neatly incorporated to resemble the cap of a perfume flacon.

And we like that it comes with a detachable ring stand that allows you to prop it up or hang it for timed selfies, or when you need it to double up as your portable mirror.

For all its pretty design elements, it still comes packed with great functionality and ease of use. Touted as the selfie camera, its 21mm wide-angle lens doesn’t require us to have unusually long arms or an annoying selfie stick to capture the perfect shot – alone or with our friends. This is also something that sets it apart from your phone camera. And while the screen on your phone cam may be bigger, the resolution and clarity of the display is much better than what you get on your handheld. Add to that, it’s lightweight and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand making it ideal to take selfies.

Its compact design allows easy navigation and you can manipulate settings with a flick of your finger on the display screen to choose options or to set it to single or burst shots.

It also comes with inbuilt Beauty Effect to edit your selfies with options like Skin Toning, Skin Smoothing, Face Slimming and Shine Removal. If you’re not sure about the lighting or white balance, just set it to Intelligent Auto and click away before sharing your pictures on your social media platforms via Wi-Fi.

Sony Cybershot

With its sleek, lightweight design and wide array of features, the Sony Cyber-Shot™ DSC KW11 ranks quite high on our likeability list. But it would have really topped the list if it came with built-in memory to accompany its microSD card for days when our SD card is full and we’re clamoring for more photo space. For those who fancy long nails, we also found that you may have a bit of difficulty with the shutter button, but the touchscreen more than makes up for it. So overall, we’re loving the functions and capabilities of this little camera for what it has been designed for. Now excuse me while I go take another selfie.
