What do you call a collaboration between two fashion legends? Sheer genius. That’s what we think about the Barbie and Karl Lagerfeld team up that produced Barbie Lagerfeld – possibly the most stylish collector’s doll in existence.
“We couldn’t be more excited about Barbie Lagerfeld – bringing together two of fashion’s most celebrated icons in such a legendary way has been an incredibly rewarding experience for all of us,” said Kim Culmone, Vice President of Barbie’s Global Product Design. “The doll is a true celebration of both fashion legends.”
The Platinum-label doll captures Kaiser Karl’s signature look in a full black and white ensemble consisting of a tailored black jacket, white collared shirt, a black satin cravat and black jeans in that iconic all-over head print. The doll even comes with highly detailed accessories that elevate it to a truly sophisticated piece: black fingerless gloves, posh black shades, black leather boots, a silver chain with pendant, a silver buckled belt and the best part, a black leather purse with metallic accents. Ample attention has also been paid to its aesthetic – Barbie Lagerfeld has enviable porcelain skin, sleek platinum locks, nude lips and nails painted in black. It doesn’t get more stylish than this.
The worldwide retail launch for Barbie Lagerfeld is on 29 September 2014, when the doll will be available at exclusive retail channels such as NET-A-PORTER.COM, select KARL LAGERFELD retail stores, TheBarbieCollection.com and Colette in Paris. It is extremely limited – only 999 in production – so mark the date and own a piece of fashion history-in-the-making.
