With its precise cuts, impeccable stitching and shapes that were designed with an utterly feminine sensibility, Eres swimwear has gained a reputation for its luxurious and sophisticated aesthetic. “Eres makes the best little black swimsuits in the world,” fashion critic Hilary Alexander once pronounced. “They are the Coco Chanel of swimsuits.”
That declaration is spot on. In 1996, Chanel bought the brand that elevated swimwear making to an art. Eres focused on designing streamlined silhouettes that moulded to a woman’s body, regardless of current trends in the market. The results are well-thought pieces that are refined, timeless and completely in a league of their own. “They always have the perfect shape,” Alexander added. “The seams, the cut and the straps are always in the right position.”
This season, Net-a-Porter introduces the latest luxury swimwear and beachwear collection from the French company. Capturing the Bohemian spirit of the 1970s and the sporting souvenirs of the 1930s, Eres’ Spring Summer 2014 collection features low-cut necklines, criss-cross details, lamé and hand-beading. Apart from the beautifully sculpted one-piece suits and classic bikinis, head designer Valérie Delafosse also includes multi-coloured ponchos and kaftans, chic dresses, tunics and a voluminous jumpsuit that evoke the sensuality of summer – light reflecting against the water, the heat of the sun against skin and the colours of citrus fruits.
“Eres is synonymous with femininity and sensuality and this collection echoes that philosophy throughout,” says Net-a-Porter’s Swimwear and Lingerie buyer, Maria Williams. “Every piece is created with a woman’s body in mind, whatever her shape, which our customers will love.”
