Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2014 (KLFW2014) is truly poised to make its mark on the regional fashion scene. Not only will the five-day event showcase the work of over 80 local designers such as Joe Chia, Afiq M, Justin Chew, Zakwan Anuar, Kazami Homme, Syaiful Baharim, and Pearly Wong, but it will also include veteran designers from neighbouring countries.
Indonesia couldn’t have been more aptly represented through Ghea Panggabean’s designs. Despite her European education, the designer is best known for her uniquely ethnic Indonesian aesthetic. She is often credited as the talent who revived interest in her country’s rich textile traditions and techniques, and she continues to inspire a generation of Indonesia’s young designers. We can be sure to spot her trademark folklore elements and Islamic design influences on the runway at KL Fashion Week this year.
Anthony Ramirez has made a name for himself in the Philippines as the go-to person for show-stopping creations. He is widely known for his fiercely sexy aesthetic that often includes cut-outs, peekaboo details and bodycon silhouettes. His well-heeled clientele include the most beautiful faces in Philippine showbiz such as Anne Curtis, Marian Rivera, Maja Salvador, Solenn Heusaff and Sarah Geronimo. For KL Fashion Week, he will be showing his collection entitled Sous La Lune (Under the Moon), which features an extensive use of neoprene in body-skimming forms.
Watch out for these designers at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week happening from June 18-22, 2014.
