Jetting off to say “I Do” soon? Here are some helpful tips to ensure you pack the right items for a stress-free wedding.
Using your wedding schedule as a guide, make an extensive checklist for your clothes and accessories (for example: Rehearsal Dinner – Emilio Pucci maxi dress, gold strappy sandals, and gold cuff). Finalise your ensembles before packing them into your suitcases. Take into consideration spending some free time too, so be sure to include a swimsuit, and your favourite yoga outfit.
Hand-carry your wedding dress. Do not – we repeat – do not check it in. You do not want to risk going wedding dress-less on your big day. Place your wedding dress in a garment bag and stow it in the plane’s overhead bin. Also hand-carry anything of value – heirloom pieces (for something old and something borrowed) and your wedding rings.
Aside from your wedding shoes, be sure to bring with you an assortment of footwear. Include flipflops (for walking on the beach or getting a pedi), sports shoes (for work-outs), dressy sandals or heels (for formal gatherings with family) and comfy bedroom slippers (because you’ll need to relax those feet too).
If you’re doing your own makeup, pack all your makeup essentials (brushes, primer, foundation, concealer, eye shadow palette, gel liner, false eyelashes, eyelash glue, lipstick and lip gloss). Also include: oil absorbing sheets, bobby pins, hairspray, sunscreen, eye cream, moisturiser and body lotion. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner; don’t rely on hotel products. To keep your skin clear, supple and hydrated, be sure to pack your favourite SK-II facemasks, creams and essences.
You might not be familiar with your location or may not be fluent in the foreign language. Prepare for the worst so pack an emergency kit with pain killers, your prescribed medication, indigestion relief, anti-itch cream, insect repellent, antiseptic cream, band aids and aloe vera for sunburns.
Double check that all your necessary documents are complete and in order. These include: passports, venue contracts, photocopies of health insurance cards, travel insurance, marriage certificate/license. Bring original documents with you (in your handbag or jacket) and keep their photocopies in your checked luggage.
After ticking all these essentials off your list, sit back, relax and enjoy your wedding – it is after all, your special day.
