Do you really need an EE Cream?

We mastered our ABCs as toddlers. And now as grown-ups we’re hitting the beauty books to learn about a new kind of alphabet – one that aims to teach our skin to be f-l-a-w-l-e-s-s. And just when our makeup kits are already bursting with BB, CC, and DD creams, we find out that the letter-obsessed creams are unveiling their newest companion – the EE cream.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, EE cream a.k.a “Extra Exfoliation” cream will be hitting makeup stores this March, courtesy of Previse Skincare. Their special concoction, called EE MarineGranules, is a botanical-based marine mousse that is added to a cleanser to increase exfoliation. Natural ingredients include bamboo stem powder, marine algae extract, oatmeal and jojoba beads and the product is meant to compete with handheld cleansing and exfoliating gadgets.

Need a little refresher course on your skin creams? Allow us to spell it out for you.

BB Cream or Blemish Balm Cream is like foundation but more multi-tasking. It provides coverage as well as other benefits such as SPF, skin lightening and anti-aging properties.

CC Cream or Colour Correcting Cream is just like its predecessor but with added ingredients to improve coverage, reduce redness and help even out skin tone.

DD cream or Daily Defence or Dynamic Do-All Cream is a combination of both creams but with pore refinement properties.

As for whether the EE cream will be as popular as the BB cream, we’ll have to wait and see. Should you include it in your beauty arsenal? In our opinion…not yet. We hardly look at other exfoliating products when we already have our trusty Clarisonic that already does a spectacular job at keeping our skin smooth and healthy. But if more brands follow through with the concept and add more benefits to it, then we’ll reconsider.
