If you want to make your eyes look bigger and brighter even before you’ve had your morning cup of coffee, we’ve got everything you need to know. All you need are some pencils, eye shadow and an eyelash curler.
Draw the line
Dark liners in shades of charcoal, brown, black or navy add definition and create the illusion of thicker lashes, enhancing the peepers. Pencils are easier to manipulate and create a smooth line, while gel and liquid liners can take some getting used to. Try the cat eye for a more dramatic shape or the kitten eye (a tamer version of the cat eye) to elongate, and lift the eye. Pro tip: Use dark liners to outline the eye and a white pencil in the waterline to give the impression of larger eyes.
Applying light, shimmery colours on your eyelids, and contouring with darker, matte shadows in the crease will instantly make your eyes pop. Look for pale golds, shimmery peaches or even iridescent silvers which attract and reflect the light, making your eyes look bigger. Use a shadow brush or pencil to dot some highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes. This will brighten and open up your eyes, creating a doe-eyed look.
Curl your eyelashes before applying mascara. Even if you don’t do any of the above, curling your lashes instantly opens up your eyes, for a beautiful wide-eyed look. Pro tip: For a longer lasting curl, blast your eyelash curler for three to five seconds with your blow dryer before you clamp down your lashes. Test the metal on your palm to make sure it is not too hot before using. You can add false eyelashes for additional volume and length, as well some drama to your look.
Be high brow
Your eyebrows frame your face and draw attention to the eyes in particular. Maintain a full and well-defined brow shape that enhances the eyes.
