Celeb Wedding: Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto

One of the largest weddings held this year was probably that of basketball legend, Michael Jordan and Cuban-American model, Yvette Prieto. The NBA star was generous with the wedding and racked up an estimated USD10 million bill. What did they spend on? We have the lowdown to the details:

When: 27 April 2013
Where: They exchanged vows at Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, Palm Beach, Florida. But the real party was a lavish reception at the Bears Club, Jupiter, Florida, a luxurious golf club designed by Jack Nicklaus. Jordan owns a home near the course. According to local realtors, the 40,000sqft venue was the “largest tent in wedding history”.
Celebrity guests: The wedding was coordinated by star wedding planner, Sharon Sacks, who also planned reality TV star Khloe Kardashian’s wedding. More than 300 guests attended the ceremony including Tiger Woods, Scottie Pippen and Spike Lee.
Entertainment: K’Jon, Usher and Robin Thicke performed at the reception. There were also fireworks at night as part of the celebration.
Gown: The bride wore a gown from J’Aton Couture. The French silk voile corseted sheer sheath gown was created from handmade silk lace and embellished with Swarovski crystals. The gown also featured French seamed crinoline borders, with a dramatic cascading cathedral train that finished in lace and accents of a peacock-feathered design.
The decor: Guests said that the room was filled with thousands of scented candles. The reception was decorated with white roses, peonies and tulips with purple accents.
The food: Guests were served an all-white seven-layer white rum wedding cake that was decorated with white fondant and sugar crystals. It was also adorned with crystal brooches, as well as the couple’s monogram on the top layer of the cake.
Other details: The couple didn’t want any wedding gifts from their guests. Instead, donations were made to the James R. Jordan Foundation and the wedding flowers were donated to the Jupiter Medical Center.
