We’re almost sure Style Santa’s gonna do a spot-checck on our nails – no, not to see if they’re short and clean like our teachers instructed when we were young – but to see if they’re ready for parties, too!
Like we always say, the devil is in the details, so don’t neglect your nails when you’re planning your year-end party getup. Here are inspirations – both naughty and nice!
The latest trend in town has to be nail printing. On a machine that’s similar to a colour printer, your nail artist selects the image that you like. Then, simply place your finger on the printing pad one by one – and voila! – you get the image printed onto your nails. This technology means that you can pretty much get any look that you want (that’s listed in the printer’s catalogue) that may not be achievable even with the most talented nail artist.
Try: Jean Yip’s Loft. The nail artists at the beauty hub are creative and able to suggest a look that combines both nail art and nail printing. Get nails in red and white, reminiscent of the candy canes on a few nails, and print christmas trees, santas claus and reindeer on others. Bonus point? Get your hair done at the salon housed at the same venue and maybe a facial treatment or massage before you paint the town red.
Stick ’em on!
Nail stickers are another great and easy way to get your nails looking fantastic. They don’t require drying so you save time, and they typically last longer, too! Also, we love that it’s possible to get the mirror-effect on your nails that are impossible to achieve with nail polish.
Try: Vedure NailSpa, which offers minx nails – a brand of nail stickers that celebrities like Rihanna and Katy Perry love. Prices start from $80 per set of hands. Alternatively, do it yourself using Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.
Do It Yourself
If you have nimble hands, then invest in good nail polishes instead. Go for glitter lacquers that stand out more under the party lights. Wear them alone or layered on other colours.
Try: OPI Mariah Carey collection. This is coming out in January 2013, so it’s not in time for Christmas – but it’s really gorgeous! The eight limited edition shades are inspired and handpicked by Mariah Carey and includes four new OPI Liquid Sand lacquers that feature a technology that gives a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle.
