It’s official: H&M’s next collaboration will be with Maison Martin Margiela.
The French fashion house is famous for being a collaborative endeavour, with no individual leading the design process, but rather, a communal vision defining the label’s clean, minimalist style.
This fits rather well with H&M’s democratic fashion philosophy, and they have pioneered the trend for high-end designers doing affordable collections on the high street, with previous partnerships including Marni, Versace, Viktor & Rolf, Lanvin and our all-time favourite, Karl Lagerfeld.
Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s creative advisor called the collaboration “a great and memorable fashion moment”. She says: “Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela.”
Margiela adds: “The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”
We can’t wait!
