People often ask me, how do you know which perfume is the right perfume for you? Truth is, there really is no such thing as a right or wrong scent. It all comes down to what you like. My mantra is very simple and pretty instinctive: If you don’t love it, don’t wear it. If you don’t adore how you smell, it will almost certainly ruin your day, strip you of your confidence and put you in a blue funk. And who says you can only have one fragrance anyway? Unless you have a one-dimensional personality — sartorial or otherwise — there’s no reason you shouldn’t have a variety to wear with different outfits and attitudes.

If the new Flora By Gucci collection of perfumes is any indication, Frida Giannini clearly shares the same scent-iment, creating this lovely Flora Garden range to “celebrate the multi-faceted way the Gucci woman expresses her personality”.

Over the weekend, I tried out three of the five perfumes from the collection: Glamorous Magnolia, Gracious Tuberose and Gorgeous Gardenia. Read on to get an idea of which one — or ones — is/are most suited to your style(s).

Top notes: Freesia, green leaves, citrus zest
Heart notes: Peony, magnolia
Base notes: Musk, sandalwood, warm chocolate accord

Overall scent: Expect a soft but lush, powdery floral fragrance. It’s like you’ve just stepped out of a Cleopatrian flower bath. Great for a formal dinner party, a romantic date or a post-dinner stroll down Avenue George V.

Who’s it for? The glamorous, feminine woman who’s self-assured and full of charisma and magnetism.
