Burberry’s chief creative officer Christopher Bailey has been named the chair for Fashion Fringe 2012 — aka the platform that helps launch the careers of emerging designers in Britain. Taking up his new role immediately, Bailey is responsible for judging, selecting and mentoring the three finalists of Fashion Fringe 2012.
Talking about Bailey’s new role, Colin McDowell, founder and creative director of Fashion Fringe, said: “I have waited some time before asking Christopher to be our chair as I wanted the run up to our 10th anniversary in 2013 to be very special. And I know that an association with Christopher and Burberry will make it just that and provide a perfect path to carry us through from one decade to the next.”
Previous Fashion Fringe alumni included Basso & Brooke, Erdem, Aminaka Wilmont, Eun Jeong, Jena Theo and Corrie Nielsen, speaking volumes of this annual award.
