Gucci Goes Goth

The Gucci woman of next season is the epitome of things dark and decadent. Unveiled at Milan Fashion Week, the new Autumn/Winter 2012-13 look translated into a constant stream of luxurious velvet, translucent black chiffon, ruffle neck blouses, baggy harem pants and tulip hemlines. Frugal fashion was not present here!

Opening the show with a military-esque boxy coat — worn over the shoulders rather than making use of the arm holes — paired with leather gloves, the luxury brand hinted at what was to come: A wardrobe of lascivious dressing. Sheer blouses came tucked into billowy trousers, dresses spiralled around the body as if the model had been spun in the fabric and high-necks created striking lines across the chest. Individually, the looks impress but together they startle.

As for make-up, a strong purpley-red lip paired with bleached brows delivered a new goth look. We’re not sure who will be sporting this look… Oh wait, we do — Helena Bonham Carter!
