London Fashion Week: Topshop Unique

If it’s possible to love every piece in a collection, this is the one. I loved it so much that I am almost willing to skip summer and head straight to the comfy sheepskin overcoats, black silk velvet trousers and amazing green python print jumper with batwing sleeves. Wide leg leather trousers teamed with comfy knits seem like the perfect combination for a winter’s day, while parkas with quilted arms and sheepskin cuffs are firmly on my Christmas list.

It is the outerwear that forms the basis for the strong AW12/13 Topshop Unique collection. Fierce zip detailing teamed with more feminine dresses brought a balance to the collection while lace up patent heeled booties kept the overall feel very urban.

The print for next season is a cross motif which was seen on knitwear and relaxed shirt-dresses, while heritage tweed and houndstooth were worked into dresses and little kilts. Some were re-worked with leather and waffle textured jersey.

And — surprise surprise! — there was a lot of burgundy. This colour is going to be a big thing next season, not to mention khaki, claret and rust. Last but not least — velvet. There’s a boilersuit in the collection in black velvet, but for those who aren’t six-foot tall models, you can go for the silk blouses teamed with velvet trousers. Let the countdown to winter 2012 begin!
