Our sister site Glam UK scored an interview with Jenny Packham backstage at her Autumn/Winter 2012-13 show in New York.
Glam: What was your inspiration for the collection this season?
JP: Film Noir! I had watched films like The Postman Always Rings Twice and Strangers On A Train and was really inspired by the dangerous, cunning, yet glamourous femme fetale.
Glam: This collection is totally different to the last, I’m obsessed with the embellishments!
JP: I know, it’s a lot darker; the fabrics are heavier — so different from the light and airy sorbet colours.
Glam: Why show in NYC as opposed to London?
JP: I can do glamour here (New York) and — I hate to say it — I don’t have to be “quirky”.
Glam: What five words best describe you?
JP: Humorous, ambitious, sensitive, relentless and happy.
Glam: Who would you most like to dress, past or present?
JP: It was a dream to dress Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie. I would love to dress Cate Blanchett and Kirsten Dunst. Tilda Swinton would be amazing, but she’s more avant-garde.
